How to properly adjust the mirrors in the car: regulatory advice

What do you need rear view mirrors in the car

Rear-view mirrors are installed on the vehicle for this purpose, so that the driver has the opportunity to inspect it, what's going on behind. They must be installed on any car or motorcycle.

In the modern car installation of three reflectors of a back kind is provided. One is located in front of the driver on the windshield inside the car, the two sides are mounted on the outside on the right and left front doors of the car.

The inner mirror has the shape of a rectangle. It is responsible for a full review of that, what's going on behind, without obscuring the visibility of the road ahead. It consists of a flat optical element with a layer applied. The optical element is located in a plastic housing with a hinged mount. This method allows you to put it at the right angle, provide the required level of review. However, the area behind the car is invisible - every driver must remember this.

Blinding the driver through such a mirror is a very common problem. To avoid this, use the following methods:

  • prismatic element;
  • materials with variable transparency or auto-shading;
  • toning.

The first option is most often used. It is used in almost every modern car. The work takes place in two modes: day and night. They can be switched manually or with an automatic electric drive. A significant disadvantage here is the extremely poor visibility in anti-glare mode. Therefore, this mode is used very rarely.

Auto-dimming is a more interesting option. Materials with variable transparency change their color under the influence of electricity. As a result, the reflecting ability of the optical element varies. However, such a system reacts extremely negatively to low temperatures and therefore is usually used only inside the cabin.
