The crane is spherical full-bore: differences from impassable, main characteristics and varieties

Ball valves are devices, which are a kind of shut-off valves and include a movable structural element in the form of a ball. Depending on design features ball valves are divided into full-passage and non-full-passage. Full bore ball valves are used, usually, in communications, which are equipped with diagnostic and cleaning devices.

Full-bore ball valves are used as shut-off valves in highways of different types and with different types of working environment

Differences from impassable and scope

Full-bore devices have a hole in the ball element, through which the working environment of communication passes. The size of the through hole in such devices is often equal to the cross-section of the valve or as close as possible to it. The dimensions of the through hole are also called the effective diameter. So, valve, with the designation DN 50 will have a hole in the ball element, whose diameter is equal to 50 mm.

This design of the full-bore valve significantly increases its capacity compared to low-permeability counterparts. Another important indicator, which affects the choice of faucet for installation, is the coefficient of hydraulic resistance. In all-terrain devices, this ratio is lower, than in impassable, which is an advantage. Due to their advantages, full-pass devices are more attractive, however, from a financial point of view, they are less profitable.

Useful Information! The service life of such valves is increased due to the reduced impact on the shut-off element. It is recommended to buy full-bore devices, if a long-term valve is required. In turn, impermeable devices wear out faster, therefore, they should be used to save money.

Full-bore cranes have a longer service life, than impassable

Such products are used in the following pipeline designs:

  • plumbing;
  • gas and oil pipelines;
  • steam lines;
  • heating networks;
  • technical pipelines in production facilities.

Varieties of ball valves are full-pass

The crane spherical shut-off and regulating full-pass can have various configurations and differ in a manufacturing material, mounting option, type of drive, as well as the shape of the handle, by means of which the valve is adjusted during operation. The products have a wide range of sizes.

Full bore valves are made of various metal alloys. Consider the main ones:

  • brass;
  • bronze;
  • stainless steel;
  • carbon steel.

Metals and polymers are used to make cranes, the strongest material is steel

Depending on design differences the necessary variant of installation of a product on the pipeline is selected. Today it exists 4 basic configurations of all-terrain devices:

  1. Couplings. Such products have a thread and are used mainly in urban water supply. Threads in such devices can be of two types, depending on the shape: cylindrical and conical.
  2. Flange. Spherical flange full bore cranes are used for communications, which are large. The main advantage of these products is, that they are quick-detachable. A flange valve is also used, if welding indoors, which contains communication, forbidden. The flange valve is convenient and is used mainly at production plants.
  3. Combined. The main advantage of such devices is versatility. Combined models are used in different pipeline communications and can be simultaneously provided with a flange on one side, and on the other - carving. Other combinations are possible.
  4. Welded. Such devices are mounted on the pipeline structure by welding and are used in the case, if you need to make a strong connection at a critical or hard-to-reach point on the system.

The mechanism of ball full bore valves is actuated by the drive. Such devices can be equipped with the following types of drives:

  • hydraulic;
  • electric;
  • pneumatic.

Compact handle - "butterfly" allows you to control the crane in a confined space

The rotary handle of such devices can be made in two variations:

  • butterfly;
  • lever.

Characteristics of ball valves and their advantages

Today, such valves are quite popular and widespread in various fields of human activity. Full bore valves, as mentioned above, have a wide range of sizes. Indicators of the section of the conditional passage (Two) such products range from 15 mm to 1500 mm. Pressure, which can withstand such a valve comes to 4 MPa.

pay attention! Models, which are large (more 300 mm), must be equipped with special support elements, necessary to maintain the integrity of the structure.

The characteristics of full-flow valves are presented in table №1.

Table 1

Two, mm Minimum operating temperature, °C Maximum operating temperature, °C Pressure, MPa
From 15 to 1500 -Fourty +Two hundred From 1,6 to 4,0

Like any other product, such taps have many advantages. Consider the main benefits of using such products:

  • simplicity of design, which provides ease of installation of the crane on pipeline communication;
  • high strength characteristics, due to which such products are reliable;
  • long service life of products;
  • absence of stagnant zones;
  • resistance to various environments (y t. h. aggressive);
  • high bandwidth, providing passage 90-100% working environment.

Ball valves are suitable for use in systems, transport aggressive substances

Full bore valves with filter

A ball valve with a cleaning filter is a device, which belongs to the combined type of locking devices, and is used on various pipelines (mostly water pipes). The main material in this case is brass, on which a layer of nickel can be additionally applied. A layer of nickel is needed to increase the anti-corrosion properties of the valve.

In turn, filter element, represented by a grid, usually, made of stainless steel. Stainless steel does not require additional protection, as it is itself a corrosion-resistant material.

Such products have a long service life and are resistant to temperature fluctuations. Resistance to temperature fluctuations is achieved due to the fact, that all valve elements are made of durable and reliable materials. exept this, it is worth noting the environmental qualities of such a locking device.

Ball valves with a coarse filter can withstand as low, and high temperatures. On average, these products are resistant to temperatures from ?20 to +120 °C, which is more than a sufficient indicator for economic pipelines. The working pressure for such products reaches 4 MPa, as in conventional all-terrain models.
