Among the many varieties of pears today stands out elite pear Bryansk beauty. In this article we will give a detailed description of the variety and talk about its main characteristics.
History of appearance
Pear variety Bryansk beauty, as the name implies, was bred in Bryansk, under the guidance of the famous breeder N. V. Rozhnova. It is still unclear, which varieties were crossed for that, to get Bryansk beauty. According to the most common version, these were the New Year's and William Red varieties.
This variety was created especially for the Chernozem regions, but the high popularity of this variety contributed to this, that at the moment it is fully adapted for cultivation in central Russia. Also thanks to the incredibly high ratings of farmers, Bryansk beauty was recognized as an elite variety 1993 year.
Characteristics of the variety
The tree in this pear does not grow too tall, with a rather narrow pyramidal crown. Thanks to one of the "parent" varieties - Wilma Red - shoots near the tree a little cast burgundy. Shoots are located at a short distance from each other and always grow upwards. When the leaves are just beginning to grow, their leaf blade is painted red. Subsequently, the leaves acquire a beautiful dark green color.
The fruits of this pear can reach quite large sizes (to 250 m), they are painted in a beautiful bright red color. Most often the shape of pears is elongated, not round (as in most varieties). The red skin does not have a glossy sheen, and very smooth to the touch. The soft and juicy flesh has a creamy tinge and a rather sweet taste (although there is a slight acidity). One of the features of this variety is the almost complete absence of odor, only a slight floral aroma remains. Tasting evaluation of fruits is high - whole 4,8 child.
The fruiting period enters relatively early - by the third year after planting it will be possible to get the first harvest. Subsequently, fruiting abundantly and stably, gives the maximum yield on 6-7 year. Fruits can be harvested with the arrival of autumn - closer to mid-September, they will ripen.
A feature of the Bryansk beauty is the late flowering. Thanks to this, she is not afraid of late frosts, as it begins to bloom, usually, only in May. exept this, pear has high winter hardiness and has excellent immunity against the most common diseases.
Features of planting
It is best to plant pears in the spring - so the tree will withstand the least stress. Choosing planting material, carefully inspect the seedling. He must be completely healthy, without rotten roots and traces of disease. Its roots must be elastic, that at landing did not break.
The place should also be chosen carefully. Firstly, it should be well lit.. Secondly, away from groundwater - their proximity contributes to rapid root rot. Third, the soil itself should be light and breathable - loamy soils are best.
A few weeks before planting it is necessary to create all the necessary conditions. First, prepare the pit, about a meter deep, fill it with earth, mixed with fertilizers (usually, manure). After that, carefully place the seedling in the hole, straighten the roots and cover with earth. It is necessary to monitor this, so that the root collar was a few inches above ground level. In the early years, the tree is tied to a peg, so that the trunk is not deformed.
Pear tree care
In order to get a rich harvest, it is necessary to follow the basic rules of plant care:
- watering. The tree is extremely intolerant of drought, so watch out for that, so that the soil around the plant does not dry out;
- pruning. Mandatory annual procedure. Dry and broken branches should be removed, to reduce the risk of disease and allow new branches to grow unhindered. Also remove all twigs, which contribute to the thickening of the crown;
- pollination. You don't have to worry about pollination, after all, the Bryansk beauty is a self-fertile variety. So you do not need to plant additional varieties of pears on the site, to harvest. However, if you want to increase the yield, select the appropriate variety and plant it next to this pear;
- prevention of diseases and pests. This pear has a fairly high immunity, so the risks of the disease are minimal. But to be sure to secure your pear garden, preventive treatment with Bordeaux liquid should be carried out every spring;
- fertilizers. Only in the 2nd or 3rd year after planting should start fertilizing. In the spring - it's nitrogen fertilizers, and in summer and autumn - potassium-phosphorus fertilizers.
