How to replace a low beam lamp on an Opel Zafira
A low beam lamp is used to illuminate a section of road, which is located directly in front of the car. In the dark, low beam lamps are almost always used, and therefore have the unpleasant property of regularly burning out, regardless of their quality and technical characteristics. For this reason, the skills of replacing the low beam lamp will be very useful to the driver.
Opel Zafira B in configuration is almost no different from other cars of this brand, and therefore the scheme, which replaces the low beam lamp, almost identical for everyone.
Varieties of low beam lamps
Usually, the Opel Zafira has three main types of low beam lighting:
Comparison of luminous flux of different types of lamps
- Halogen. Halogen lamps can be classified as classic. They have been installed on Opel cars for several decades, and, essentially, are an improved version of the most common incandescent lamp. Halogens, installed on the Opel Zafira, have, usually, a number of additional modifications - improved brightness and resistance to any weather conditions;
- Xenon. Such light sources are three times longer than halogen and much less likely to fail due to lack of filament. Luminaires with xenon base, mounted on the Opel Zafira will provide more comfortable conditions for the driver, and will not irritate the eyes. However, it is worth considering, that buying such lamps can be expensive. in addition, together with xenon lamps in the car will have to mount a special unit to ignite them;
- LED. At the moment, the most common running lights and signal lamps on an LED basis, however, low-beam LED lamps have already appeared on our roads. The main advantages of this type of lighting units include low power consumption, the ability to produce units with any "temperature" of color, as well as longer service life compared to any other type of lamp, which can be installed on the Opel Zafira. Due to that, that LEDs belong to the category of solid light sources, they are practically impervious to environmental vibrations, and therefore rarely fail.

Device replacement
The process of replacing the low beam lamp is not particularly difficult. It is enough to clearly follow the established algorithm and avoid mistakes.
The driver replaces the low beam headlight on the Opel Zafira according to the following scheme:
- Find the plastic cover on the rear hole of the headlight. Below it is a low beam lamp on the Opel Zafira;
- Remove the cover, pulling the metal bracket (operates on the principle of a spring);
- Disconnect the wires from the connector, which go to the lighting fixture (are under the above cover);
- Carefully remove the lamp from the reflector. You will have to overcome the resistance of the latch;
The process of replacing the low beam lamp
Under no circumstances should you try to pull the lighting unit by the wires.
- Put a new low beam lamp in the reflector. There may be a problem here, because you will have a very limited space. Make sure you follow these steps, so that the wide guide on the base of the lamp looks up. It is necessary to start the lighting device strictly at an angle in 90 degrees in order to accurately hit the diffuser (metal cap, which is inside the device);
- If you are convinced of that, that the lamp was installed strictly on the guides, it is necessary to press it before clicking - it will confirm the fact of correct installation of the lighting device;
- Connect all the wires and put the plastic cover in place.
Lada Kalina license plate lamp replacement
Replacing the low beam headlight on the Opel Zafira from the passenger side is almost no different from the driver's scheme described above. The only nuance will be the need to remove the air filter (without this procedure it will be extremely inconvenient to replace the low beam lamp).
To properly remove the air filter, it is necessary to act according to such algorithm:
- Remove the pipe, which allows air to enter the device. It's very simple, because it is not attached to anything and you can just snatch it;
- Remove the pipe, blocking the output of the filter (for this purpose it is possible to loosen a collar a little with a wrench on seven);
- Remove the filter housing. This is done so: you need to take its lower part (adjacent to the Opel Zafira engine) and neat, without pulling (jerks can deform two fastening mechanisms) pull the device body out. The wires can be left connected to the housing.
Removing the air filter
After removing the air filter, you have enough free space to replace the low beam lamp with Opel Zafira.
Recommendations for replacing low beam lamps
Here are some tips on how to properly replace low beam lamps:
- The low beam lamps on Opel Zafira cars must be replaced in pairs. It has to do with that, that during operation the devices have the unpleasant property to change the intensity of their glow, as well as color temperature;
The lamp must never be touched with bare hands. Fat on the colab can disable it prematurely. If necessary, it is better to treat the lamp with an alcohol-based liquid.
- It is better to buy luminaires for Opel Zafira from proven manufacturers. Trying to save, buying products from dubious Asian manufacturers, you run the risk of getting into an unpleasant situation with an unforeseen breakdown of the lighting fixture;
- To avoid problems in the operation of your Opel Zafira, it is best to entrust the adjustment of low beam lamps to professionals (after that, how you made the replacement).
