Three-way valve for manometer: main characteristics and varieties

A three-way crane is a device, which is mounted on the pipe in front of the manometer and performs several functions. Thanks to this device purge is carried out, preventive check or complete shutdown of the measuring manometer. Such valves are used in communications, which transport cold water, as well as hot water and steam.

The three-way valve can be installed on any device, fixtures or trunk, where control of operation of the manometer is necessary

What do you need a three-way valve?

Thanks to this valve, it is possible to check the measuring instrument. The manometer is checked by connecting a control manometer to it. Consider three more main functions, which is performed by a three-way pressure gauge valve:

  • this product allows you to relieve pressure in front of the manometer, which prevents the sticking of the arrow of the device;
  • thanks to such device it is possible to make disconnection of the manometer from communication;
  • the three-way manometric valve also allows to blow out assignments. Elimination of contaminants affects the accuracy of the manometer readings;

pay attention! For commercial purposes, instead of a three-way valve, a check valve of the coupling type is often used. It is ideal for communications with low pressure.

Installation of this device is a must in production. This is necessary in order to perform checks on the measuring instrument. If you ignore this point of building codes and regulations (SNiP), the pressure gauge may fail, which will make it impossible to measure the pressure in this area of communication. In such cases, there is a high risk of an accident and damage to the pipeline.

Installation of such cranes is necessary in industrial conditions

Advantages of three-way valves

Like any other product, the three-way manometric crane differs in a number of advantages, which are worth paying attention to:

  • installation of such a crane does not require much effort;
  • the device does not require individual control;
  • this element of communication is easy to operate and maintain. If necessary, repair or replacement of such a device will not be difficult;
  • long service life;
  • high sealing performance, which are achieved by means of special seals from Teflon;
  • low coefficient of hydraulic resistance;
  • and such a device differs in that, that there are no zones of fluid stagnation.

Three-way valves are indispensable devices in the production of various directions. Their high performance allows them to effectively cope with the tasks assigned to them.

Types of three-way cranes

To date, there are several varieties of this device. Three-way manometric valves are classified depending on a way of fastening, as well as based on design differences.

Three-way cranes are available in various designs

Consider the main types of this product:

Crane tension tension three-running for the manometer. This product has a tension sealing option (hence the name). Exist 4 main types of cork tension valves. Consider them:

  1. Device, in which the through hole has a pipe or metric thread on both sides. The third way out in this case acts as drainage.
  2. Adaptation, which has on one side holes pipe thread, and on the other - metric. As in the previous case, the third outlet is adapted for drainage.
  3. The third device is, essentially, modification of the first and second and is equipped with a locking device. The handle acts as a locking device, having the shape of a lever or a butterfly.
  4. Device, which is equipped with a thread on both sides of the hole, and from the third has a special flange for connection with the measuring device.

The following three-way valves are made of brass. Brass is a fairly light and malleable material. It should be noted, that such products have two disadvantages:

  • such cranes require a lot of effort, to start the locking or switching mechanism;
  • through those, that the brass alloy has low strength, there is a risk of breaking the tail of the plug when tightening the nut.

Most models of three-way cranes are made of brass

The crane spherical with drainage three-running under the manometer. Modern device, which is the most popular option of all three-way manometric taps.

Consider the main operational advantages of the ball valve for pressure gauge:

  • simple and convenient design;
  • high sealing performance;
  • practicality (small size);
  • ease of installation and ease of operation;
  • garbage does not accumulate in flowing areas;
  • three-way ball valves can be used in narrow or stagnant areas.

Useful Information! Inside the three-way ball valves is a special layer, having a slot in the form of the letter "G" or "T". Varieties of ball valve are similar to modifications of the cork device, with only one difference - a ball valve, regardless of the features of use, always has a locking handle.

Ball valve with coupling. This valve is not three-way as such, but can be used to perform the same functions. Such cranes are made of brass, which has a protective layer of chromium. To the coupling outlet you can connect a drain or control manometer to check the main measuring instrument.

The crane three-running push-button under the manometer. This is a modern device, which has one big difference from the devices listed above - thanks to such valve constant influence of pressure of environment on the measuring mechanism of the device is excluded. The pressure is measured as follows: the button is pressed and pressure is applied to the measuring device for measurement. After releasing the button, the load on the measuring manometer goes automatically.

Push-button valve - modern, more practical and easy to use model

Features of operation of the three-way ball valve

The three-way valve differs in that, which can be in several positions of the switch. Namely:

Provisions of № 1. the connected measuring device is connected to the communication, in which indicators of pressure of a working environment are measured.

Provisions of № 2. In this position, the meter does not have access to communication, a, vice versa, connected to the outside air. In this position, the pressure gauge must always be zero.

Provisions of № 3. In the third position, the manometer does not have access to the working environment in communication, nor to the airspace, however, the device interacts with the external environment (when purging).

Provisions of № 4. This position of the three-way pressure gauge is used in this case, when it is necessary to connect the test manometer to the main measuring instrument.
