The ends of the guides protruding from the rear of the support must be locked, for what it is possible to cut on them a carving and to screw nuts. A nut is also screwed onto the protruding end of the screw. Handmade carpentry vices are modernized if necessary, adapting them to wooden blanks of different sizes. So, you can install a longer screw, that will allow to process preparations of bigger width, change the position of the guide elements, what may be needed in that case, if you decide to install clamps of greater length.
