Greenhouse with his own hands from PVC pipes. Advantages of PVC. The order of installation of the greenhouse

For homeowners, building a greenhouse is a great way to protect all heat-loving plants and crops from frost in the cold season.. Ready-made frames for seasonal buildings are on sale, differing in size, material and price. You can install a greenhouse or hothouse yourself with very affordable means. Inexpensive and light are most often used for these purposes, but strong enough plastic pipes.

From PVC pipes it is possible to construct a hotbed of any sizes

Greenhouse, made of PVC pipes: what are the advantages?

PVC pipes (abbreviated name of the material, full - polyvinyl chloride) appeared on the market relatively recently, but have already gained popularity in many areas of production and household. As for the installation of outbuildings, PVC pipes are gradually displacing aluminum and steel profile products.

PVC is great for creating a frame for a greenhouse with your own hands, because how:

  1. The material is resistant to corrosion. Polymer is the best material for constructions, designed for long stays in the open air. The metal profile rusts very quickly, and galvanized and stainless steel options will be too expensive for temporary construction.
  2. Wooden frames, with whatever quality wood they were made of, over time, are negatively affected by precipitation. If there is frequent rainfall in your area, a greenhouse with a wooden frame can last only a few seasons.
  3. The light weight of the pipes simplifies their transportation. You can even move the finished structure to a new place, without resorting to its analysis.
  4. PVC does not deteriorate with changes in air temperature. In the presence of fire sources, adjacent to the structure, PVC pipes do not catch fire. The combustion of the material stops immediately, as soon as the fire is eliminated.
  5. The strength of the material allows it to withstand strong gusts of wind. Under the influence of precipitation and other natural factors, PVC does not lose its properties, and its structure is not subject to destruction.
  6. The frame will be completely ready for operation immediately after assembly - no finishing or painting required. Greenhouse or hotbed with a base of PVC pipes, assembled with his own hands, looks quite aesthetically pleasing.
  7. Polyvinyl chloride is very flexible, so, its processing will not take much time and labor. Even without the use of a special pipe bender, the product can be given absolutely any shape. If necessary, the disassembly of the structure is also very fast.

It is very easy to work with such pipes, they can be bent without a pipe bender

The main advantage, which makes PVC material so popular, - this is an attractive price for products made of this type of plastic. In terms of wear-resistant qualities, such pipes are not inferior to metal products, while the cost of a greenhouse or hotbed will be many times lower.

Design of a greenhouse from plastic pipes

Choice of size and shape, which will have a finished greenhouse made of PVC pipes, depends only on the individual requirements of the site owner: there will be no special restrictions during construction. Greenhouse, made with his own hands, can be as stationary, and collapsible. It makes no sense to install a permanent frame, if you plan to use the greenhouse only, example, for growing seedlings in the spring.

Wrinkle! It is important to remember, that at increase in dimensions of a design it is necessary to use pipes of bigger diameter or with a thicker wall.

There are a lot of proposed designs of greenhouses or hotbeds of PVC pipes. The most relevant of them:

  • arched greenhouse;
  • rectangular one-slope or two-slope greenhouses;
  • greenhouse in the form of a dome (most often used as a decorative structure;
  • greenhouse, made in the form of an extension, that is, the entrance to it will not be located on the street side, and from home.

The range of pipes and fittings allows you to assemble complex structures - for example, with a gabled roof

PVC pipes are commercially available in lengths from 2 to 7 meters. Longer products mean a reduction in the number of fasteners between segments.

There will be different options for the material to cover the greenhouse. Polycarbonate sheets or simple high-density polyethylene film are most often used. The film coating perfectly performs its functions in the autumn and spring months, and for very low temperatures may not be enough. Greenhouses, used all year round, usually covered with polycarbonate. In the summer months, this material protects plants from the negative effects of ultraviolet radiation, winter - from frost and snow.

An important issue will be the choice of location for a greenhouse or hothouse. The following factors should be considered:

  • the greenhouse should not be surrounded by trees or other structures. If the greenhouse will be constantly in the shade, it will not be able to function normally;
  • it will be useful to read the weather calendar in your area, to calculate the prevailing wind direction. This operation will help reduce the heat loss of the greenhouse;
  • access to the greenhouse should be free: the greenhouse door must coincide with the track.

How to make a greenhouse covered with plastic film with your own hands

As an example, consider the simplest design of an arched greenhouse with a protective polyethylene film. The greenhouse will have doors and vents at the ends.

The simplest option is an arched greenhouse, which is covered with film

For, to assemble the greenhouse with his own hands with a canopy of plastic wrap, you will need such a set of materials and parts:

  • directly PVC pipes of the necessary diameter;
  • clamps for fastening of a polyethylene film;
  • tees of appropriate diameter for connecting pipes, self-tapping screws for fastening, angular adapters;
  • metal rods up to 0,8 m.

First of all it is necessary to level a place, on which the greenhouse will be located. At the same time it is also impossible to compact the soil excessively, as the structure of the soil will be disturbed.

Metal rods are driven into the ground around the perimeter of the future greenhouse. The depth of burial should be at least 25 cm, if the soil is loose and loose, the depth can be increased. The rods will serve as a support for PVC pipes, they will not allow the frame to fall in very strong gusts of wind. The distance between the rods should not exceed 90 cm, again, it can be reduced in the presence of soil characteristics.

After, as a base of rods is ready, the framework from plastic arches gathers. On the rod, parallel to each other, put on the pipes, resulting in perfectly smooth arcs. Then on the highest points of an arch design the horizontal pipe keeps within and is strongly fixed. The greater the length of the greenhouse made of pipes, the more horizontal segments required: they can also be installed on different sides. Doors and windows are installed last.

Such arched structures can be purchased ready-made in the store with goods for the garden and vegetable garden. They do not require the installation of the foundation, and all fasteners come complete with a set of pipes.

Pipes should be well secured to the base, that the greenhouse was resistant to gusts of wind

It is desirable to cover the structure with polyethylene film at medium air temperature (no less 16-18 degrees), to avoid sagging material. Fastening by means of clips allows to loosen at any time or, vice versa, increase the tension of the film. In place, where the film falls to the ground, you can install the load or dig up the remnants of the film with earth.

A greenhouse with a wooden base with your own hands

Arched structure can be installed not on open ground, and on a wooden box. This solution is best for the condition of the plants.

Wrinkle! For, so that wooden boards do not deteriorate from constant exposure to moisture, be sure to cover them with antiseptic composition and moisture-repellent varnish. Only well-dried boards should be used for the foundation, preferably made of solid wood.

The base of the wooden beam is usually thick from 10 div. The boards are connected to each other in a single base with metal brackets.

You also need to prepare the ground for the wooden box. A small trench is dug deep 5-7 cm, given that, that the beam will be deepened by about half. After, as you make sure the correctness of the marked corners, the trench should be covered with sand. The beam is laid on the sand, and then covered with a layer of waterproofing (mainly roofing material is used). After such works the basis can be covered with the earth, slightly tamping, and start driving metal pegs into the box. Not only wooden boards can be used as a foundation, but also brick, foam blocks, pouring concrete mortar.

Build a greenhouse with your own hands from PVC pipes with polycarbonate coating

If it was decided to construct a stronger greenhouse from PVC pipes with their own hands, installation should also begin with leveling the ground. Then the end elements are formed, for which sheets of the size are cut out of polycarbonate, according to your plan.

The frame for the polycarbonate greenhouse can be supplemented with wooden elements - for example, for the doorway

Polycarbonate is quite pliable for cutting, but this must be done very carefully. The most even cut is obtained with a stationery knife (necessarily with a new blade). It is necessary to cut cellular polycarbonate on a flat and clean surface.

Fastening of sheets to the basis from PVC of pipes is carried out with use of press washers with the size 3,2 mm on 25 mm. If excess material remains after connection, they can be removed with a stationery knife. The sheets are attached end to end, there should be no gaps between them. When installing polycarbonate sheets, the protective film must be on top (that is, outdoors). This rule will increase the shelf life of the structure. Polycarbonate honeycombs should always be parallel to the arch mount, perpendicular to the ground.

Designing and assembling greenhouses with your own hands from any plastic pipes - this is an affordable and simple measure. The work does not require much time and money. If you plan to use the greenhouse for several seasons, a simple design with a covering from polyethylene will approach, for longer use it is recommended to use polycarbonate sheets. Ready greenhouses from PVC pipes and polycarbonate, made with their own hands, can be covered with an awning on very hot days.
