The main causes of the problem

If you do not have a spare cord, try moving all the connectors or connecting the cable to another USB port on your PC. If these actions did not improve the situation, means, you need to look for other reasons, why the printer does not print.

The ink in the nozzles dried up

Inkjet printers have one major drawback: after a short period of time, the ink in the nozzles of the print head dries. That this did not happen, you need to print something all the time, or 1 every few days (from 3 to 7) turn on the printer, that he "blew" the nozzle.

Air got at refueling

Air in the cartridge, refilled with ink, will not cause much harm. Unless the paint starts to flow out of it, as there will be no necessary vacuum inside the tank, which keeps the ink from leaking.

Another thing, when the ink runs out, and air enters the nozzles of the print head. In this case, it is possible to dry the paint in the capillaries of the head. Air can also get in and dry the head, if it is parked incorrectly after the printer has finished. It is important to check, so that the carriage always reaches the parking space. Only in this case the nozzles will be protected from drying out.

Air can also damage the print head, especially in Epson printers, because it is fixed. The problem is, that when changing inkwells, if you do it slowly, or when installing a CISS, when the head is outside the parking lot, nozzles have time to dry.

The ink is selected incorrectly

Some users think, that the ink is the same for all printer models. But really, even for devices of the same brand, the ink may differ. Perhaps, Do not print the cartridge due to incompatible ink refills, which entails complete flushing of the print head.

The cartridge is installed incorrectly

Sometimes a situation arises, when the printer does not see the cartridge. This is due to the fact, that there are electrical contacts on it, which at installation should coincide perfectly with contacts, located inside the carriage. If for any reason there is a violation of contact (drank, the paint has dried), then the device does not work properly. It is also necessary to peel off the protective film from the contacts, if the inkwell is new.

Some devices, especially MFPs, will not start working, while the lid is open. The reason for equipment failure lies in a special cover sensor. So, if you have installed CISS, and the loop from it prevents the lid from closing tightly, then this sensor must be locked, example, a piece of foam (locking methods may differ for different printer models).

Problems with the diaper chip or counter

Inkjet printers use two types of cartridges: disposable and refillable. In disposable manufacturers install a special chip, which blocks the operation of the device after the ink in the tank. Even if you pour paint into the tank, the chip will still signal, that the container is empty. The printer also refuses to print, if the diaper counter indicates, that it is crowded.

Diapers are a place in the device, filled with foam, where the excess ink from the print head merges.

Troubleshoot printer problems (IFIs) Brother

To troubleshoot a dry print head, diapers, chip, etc.. there is no universal method, because the design of the devices is different. Different printer models have their own ways of troubleshooting. Brother MFPs often refuse to print after refilling the cartridge due to dry nozzles or diaper overflow.

Restore the printhead

Brother ink cartridges use water-ink cartridges, and with pigment. Usually pigment ink has a "black" cartridge - they are to blame for clogging the print head, if the device has not been used 3-4 weeks.

МФУ Brother, unlike other models from different manufacturers, have such a design, that the inkwells are located on the side and are connected to the print head by means of silicone tubes (loops), like the loops in the CISS.

Paint, as usual, does not dry in a loop or cartridge, and in the nozzles of the print head (PG). So first you need to get to the head. In standby mode, this node is in the parking lot in a locked state. If you open the lid, then the node is visible, but it is impossible to move it.

To move the head off the lock, do the following:

  • turn on the device and wait for its full self-tuning;
  • run the nozzle test with the scanner unit closed;
  • as soon as you hear the movement of the printing mechanism, unplug the power cord, to stop the carriage from moving.

You can now manually move the carriage in any direction. It is necessary to restore the nozzles, so that the washing liquid gets on them in some way. The simplest method is to use a parking space for this purpose:

  • you need to take a napkin and fold it in 3-4 times;
  • place a napkin on the entire surface of the cap;
  • heat the flushing fluid to 40 degrees and soak a napkin well with it, located on the cop;
  • applying maximum care, move the carriage with the print head to the parking space, so, so that the napkin does not move, and the nozzles were in close contact with the flush;
  • leave the carriage in this position for a while 5 to 10 hours (it is better to do the procedure in the evening and leave the "soaking" until the morning);
  • if "soaking" did not give the expected result, then it can be repeated, replacing the napkin with a new one.

This method is quite effective, if the case is not running. Otherwise, you will need to contact the service center.

Removing the diaper

Brother printers do not have sensors, monitoring the overflow of the diaper with used ink, and therefore the control of the adsorber is carried out at the software level. The calculation is based on the number of prints, which left the device, as well as the number of head cleanings (forced and regular). After some time of operation of the unit the software counter determines, that diapers are time to be overflowing, and locks the printer, the message "Cleaning" or "Error 46" is displayed on the device.. To reset the counter, no additional software required. The device has a reset function via the service menu. To get into it, do the following.

  1. Unplug the machine from the wall outlet.
  2. Pressing and holding the "MENU" key, connect the power cord to the mains.
  3. Wait for the message "Maintenance" to appear on the screen, which is displayed for a couple of seconds. At this point you need to have time to remove your finger from the "MENU" key. If it didn't work out, then turn off the outlet and do it all over again.
  4. Clicking on "+", wait, until the number appears 8, then click "OK".
  5. Using the "+" key, select a number 2, and after "OK". After these steps you should see the message "MACHINE ERROR" or "MACHINE ERROR 00". If no such message appears, and any other appears, then reset the diaper counter will not work.

Next, you need to go to the procedure of software reset:

  • follow the steps, mentioned above, to the point 3 (including);
  • then use the "+" button to select a number 0 and then press the "OK" key, the image “00:00 XX: XX», of XX: XX is the time;

  • use the "+" key to find the number on the display 2 and click "OK";

  • pressing the "BLACK AND WHITE" key, select “FLUSH: xxxxxх »;
  • repeat all steps, which were made after selecting the inscription "PURGE";
  • after selecting a number 3 and clicking "OK", you will see the message «FLUSH: 00000», then turn off the printer, from the electrical outlet and switch on again.

After resetting the counter, the printer will resume operation. It is also recommended to remove the diaper itself, rinse it and dry, but this will require disassembly of the device. To understand, How to do it, a separate article is required.


Canon Printer Solutions

The manufacturer of printing equipment Canon uses in their devices 2 types of printheads: non-removable and removable, located directly on the cartridge.

Flushing of non-removable printheads

Before, how to start washing this part, you need to prepare a small container, in which the washing process will take place. It can be a saucer, plastic box with small boards, photo bath, etc.. Also needed: gauze or bandage, pair of syringes (10 ml), plastic and rubber tubes, which are in medical drips. Erasers will be needed, if severe clogging is detected, which is not removed by soaking.

It is recommended to use washing liquid for rinsing, sold in stores, ink traders. But, because the price of liquids is quite high, then you can use household chemicals, namely "Mr. Muscle" (MM) for washing glasses, containing ammonia.

pay attention, that the color of the chemical was either green, or blue. Other liquid colors are not suitable for rinsing.

so, when everything is cooked, do the following.

  1. Fill in the MM syringe.
  2. Cut 2 small piece of gauze. Fold the first one like this, that it was the size of the lower site of the GHG, then put it in a saucer and soak MM. The second piece is crumpled and also slightly soaked in glass liquid.
  3. Turn the GHG nozzles up and crumpled (moisturized) remove all dirt from it with a piece of gauze. Perhaps, will have to change a few gauze swabs.
  4. Place the GHG on the prepared area of ​​gauze in a saucer. Remove dirt from the intake grilles with a wet gauze swab (carefully, so as not to break them).
  5. Removing the erasers from the inkwells, rinse them under water, to remove dried paint, and places, where they were - wipe with gauze.
  6. Further, on drops of a fence it is necessary to drip on one drop of MM, using a syringe.
  7. As soon as MM is absorbed, drip more 1 drop on the lattice. This needs to be repeated many times, and change the piece of gauze under the head as it gets dirty. When the time comes, that liquid, flowing through the nozzles, that will not stain gauze - then, rinsing can be completed.
  8. Twist a small piece of gauze twice to check the quality of the wash, moisten it well MM, and put on it GHG at about 1 year. If after the time the gauze remains clean or with weak ink stains, but without areas with heavy pollution, then the GHG can be inserted into the device.
  9. After installing the head in the printer, you must start cleaning the GHG 2-3 times, to remove remnants of MM.

If, when a drop of liquid is not absorbed into the lattice, leave it for a while to soak. From time to time clean it with a napkin and apply again. When the napkin stops staining, but the liquid still does not pass, then you have to use the following method of washing, which is used for strong blockages.

  1. Select the appropriate diameter of the tube, so that they can be put on the pipes, through which the ink enters the head. The tubes should be close in length 5 see and dress tightly.
  2. After installing the tubes, place the head on gauze in a saucer and pour MM into them. The liquid should be topped up from time to time, which will gradually go through the nozzles. Also, don't forget to change the gauze in the saucer, as soon as a puddle appears near it.
  3. If in one or more tubes MM falls very slowly or stands still, it is recommended to leave the head in this position for several hours, and better - at night.

If, when soaking overnight did not work, and the liquid in the tube does not fall, then you can go to the next method. But keep in mind, that you will use it at your own risk, as GHGs can be completely damaged, or rather - nozzles. This is done in this way.

  1. Leave the tube on only that color, which needs to be washed.
  2. Pick the right adapter, to attach the syringe to the tube.
  3. Connect the syringe (piston in the lower position).
  4. Change the gauze under the head and soak it well MM. You can even pour a little into a saucer, about 2-3 mm.
  5. Slightly pressing the GHG to the gauze, to exclude air suction, start pulling out the piston, so that the liquid begins to flow through the nozzles into the syringe. This should be done very smoothly.
  6. The liquid cannot be reused in the syringe and must be poured out. Add a little MM to the saucer and repeat the procedure 2-3 times.
  7. Then leave the head to soak on 1 year.
  8. Repeat the fluid flow through the nozzles. In the normal state, the liquid should be drawn in without much effort. When will you do the last broach, watch out for the team, so as not to accidentally draw in air. If this happens, an air plug is formed, which will interfere with the passage of MM.
  9. Put all the tubes back on and fill them with liquid. It is necessary to check, how evenly its level falls on different colors (except black). If the difference in levels fluctuates within 5-8 mm, then this is considered the norm. If on any branch pipe there is a noticeable difference from norm, then perform the drawing of liquid through it, as mentioned above.

Importantly! If you pull the liquid through the nozzles does not come out at all, then do not try to push the liquid in the opposite direction (through nozzles). This will cause the capillaries to rupture, and the head can be thrown away.

It is possible to push MM through nozzles only in a situation, when at least a little, but the liquid passes through the nozzles during suction. But even in this situation you need to have experience, to feel the allowable effort, which is attached to the plunger of the syringe. The degree of sensitivity of capillaries to pressure in different heads may vary, and to reduce the chances of damaging them, it is recommended to use larger syringes (10-20 ml), in which the air will serve as a shock absorber.

If you apply the method of drawing the liquid in two directions, then the following nuances should be taken into account:

  • if you use a syringe with a volume 10 ml, then the air layer between the piston and the fluid should be about three divisions;
  • initially lower the plunger of the syringe is allowed only on 3 division, maximum;
  • in the direction of reducing the liquid can be added one separation;
  • the pressure on the piston should be smooth, without jerks.

You should know, that complete cleaning of GHGs with an average degree of clogging takes from one to three days. With severe blockage, the procedure can be delayed for a week. You need to be patient, because the desire to do everything faster can finally "kill" the head.

There is another, extreme way of washing nozzles, called "shower".

  1. Fill in the MM syringe, but without an air layer.
  2. Connect it to the pipe with a tube (from the system) about the length 20 cm. This is done for that, so that the pressure is compensated by the length of the tube. As a last resort, when you exceed the pressure, it will jump out of the pipe, spraying everything around with liquid.
  3. Raise the GHG over the saucer and start pressing the piston without much effort.

The result can be assessed by that, how the liquid flows out of the nozzles. If they are not completely washed, then the jet looks, as in the picture below. By the way, this type of jet can be observed in the destruction of the nozzles, which can also be determined visually.

The following figure shows, that the liquid turns out equal, thin jets, reminiscent of a shower. This means, that the nozzles are well washed.

After this method of washing, it is recommended to blow dry the head, but did not overheat it. The GHG temperature after drying should be as follows, so that it can be held in the hands. It needs to be dried several times, with an interval of 20 min.

Before installation in the printer the head needs to be "dripped", so that it is not dry. To do this, drip a few drops of washing liquid into the ink channels.

Don't forget to run the printhead cleaning hardware, to fill it with ink.

Flush the print head on the cartridge

This recovery method is suitable for both Canon printer cartridges, and for HP inkjet inks, which have a built-in head, and look schematic, as in the following figure.

To start, need to be determined, whether the cartridge is dry, if the printer does not print. To do this, take the toilet paper and press the bottom of the inkwell to it, where the nozzles are located. If the ink imprint on the paper is clear, then the head is not dry. If there is no imprint or it is weak, so it is necessary to soak the nozzles. The easiest and fastest way to soak is, to apply a few drops of MM on the nozzles. To do this, turn the part up with the nozzles, as shown.

Across 10 minutes, remove the liquid from the nozzle with a napkin and check, whether the ink passes on the paper. If this method did not help, then you can put the item to soak for a longer time (2-3 years) in a container with MM.

For better penetration of liquid to the nozzles can be placed under the inkwell, example, a piece of toothpick, so that the nozzles do not touch the bottom of the tank, but were immersed in the solution.

After soaking it is necessary to wipe a detail with a napkin dry, especially the contact group, insert it into the printer and run a deep cleanup. Then run the nozzle test. If the result does not suit you, you can try blowing the nozzles through the air inlets in the cartridge.

For this, do the following:

  • cut the medical needle in half and put it on the syringe;
  • for, to ensure a tight fit of the syringe to the body of the inkwell, any soft rubber band should be worn on the needle;

  • insert the air syringe into the cartridge hole and press it firmly, so that the rubber band ensures a tight fit;

  • start gently pushing air into the inkwell, pre-lined with a piece of toilet paper or napkin;
  • as a result, ink should leak from the nozzles;

In this way, "colored" cartridges are blown, having 3 holes at the top.

Ink reset control

Canon is installed on Canon inks, which counts the amount of paint, what was left in them. When the "opinion" of the chip paint ends, an error message or an empty cartridge appears. Therefore it is necessary to disconnect the counter.

If Canon PG510 inks are installed / 440/426, then click "OK", in all messages, appearing on the device display. Click "OK", until you are prompted to press the button, including paper broach. Hold it for a few seconds, and the paint counter will be reset. For other cartridges, the reset occurs after you press the triangle button on the circle 5-10 sec. or in the printer settings on the PC.


We are resuscitating Epson printers

Ink accounting in Epson printers is done by their own software (firmware). So, no matter how many cartridges you refill, the program will consider, that the container is empty, and blocks printing.

To return the device to work, it is customary to use the PrintHelp program, which is freely available on the Internet and is free. Besides, it can be used for most Epson printing equipment.

With this program you can do more than just reset the ink, but also to monitor their number. The program is also able to detect diaper overflow and, if necessary, reset it.

Restore the printhead

Epson printers will require special flushing fluid or Mr. Muscle for flushing the print head.. In most cases, the GHG carriage does not need to be removed, and washing is performed as follows.

  1. Switch on the appliance with the lid open, and at the moment, when the carriage is in the middle - pull the cord out of the socket.
  2. Remove the inkwells from the carriage. If you have installed ??CISS, then read the instructions for it, where it is written, what to do to remove the cartridges.
  3. Manually move the carriage slightly to the right, place a clean cloth on the bottom of the appliance, and move your head like that, so that it is above the padded napkin.
  4. Cut the tube lengthwise from the medical drip 5-10 cm.
  5. Put the tube on the syringe and dial MM into it.
  6. Insert the tube into the hole, through which the ink is fed from the inkwell to the head (hole, leading to clogged nozzles).
  7. Pour a couple of cubes of liquid into it and wait, until it seeps onto the napkin. Also recommended, so that other nozzles do not dry out, while you wash any one area, pour the liquid into other holes.
  8. Do this procedure several times, changing a napkin.

After rinsing, do the following: remove the napkin, remove possible drops of liquid of their device, insert the inkwell into the carriage and, turning on the device, run enhanced GHG cleaning.

In the situation, when this method of restoring the head did not help, you will have to get it from the printer and apply recovery methods, which were previously described for the removed head of the Canon device.


Restore HP printers

To clean the print head in HP printers, placed on the cartridge or freestanding, suitable method, which has been described for Canon printers.

Reset the ink counter

Not a secret, that inkjet HP 121, 27, 28, 56, 57, 21 and 22 have the opportunity to refuel. You need to be careful not to run out of ink, topping them up in time. When the chip detects, lacking ink (but there is still paint), a notice is issued: an exclamation mark appears opposite the problem inkwell. In this case, you need to click on "Continue", thereby disabling the monitoring of the paint level. The disadvantage of this method is, that you will not be able to see the ink level.

If you do not refill the ink and continue printing, then after their consumption the sensor will work, which determines the actual amount of paint, and will block the printer and the chip itself. A cross will appear in front of the cartridge. If this happens, will have to replace the chip or inkwell. Although there are several ways to reset the chip, to display the paint level.

Place the inkwell on the table with the contacts facing up and do the following.

  1. It will be necessary to seal with scotch tape 1 contact, highlighted in green. Importantly, to be sealed only 1 contact.
  2. After that it is necessary to insert the inkwell into the device, click "OK", which will appear in the message box, and print the internal unit test.
  3. Remove the ink cartridge from the printer again.
  4. Then you need to close another contact. You can choose any (blue, violet, red), without removing the sticker from the contact, closed earlier.
  5. Insert the part back into the printer, click "OK" and print a test page.
  6. Remove the ink tank from the machine again.
  7. Remove the sticker from the first contact, then return the part to the machine. You have to wait, while the unit "sees" the ink tank, then pull it out.
  8. You will need to remove the sticker from the second contact, wipe all contacts with alcohol, and install the ink cartridge back into the printer.

The meaning of these manipulations is as follows: four different cartridges are being replaced, then the ink refill ID is erased from the device memory, and she, inserted ??fifth, considered as new. After that, the printer will count, what is paint, and display its level in the tanks.

The second method is suitable, if the first proved ineffective:

  • seal the first contact, insert the inkwell into the machine, and print the test, as in the first method;
  • without removing the sticker from the first contact, it is necessary to seal three contacts at once, as shown;

  • insert the part into the machine and print the test;
  • remove all stickers and replace the inkwell, not forgetting to clean the contacts with alcohol.
